  1. If you mostly do domestic travel, I don’t see why a 2% cashback card is best? With Sapphire, Ink and Freedom together you’d earn at least 2 UR points on average X the 1.4 cpp (minimum) value of Southwest = 2.8% back. You might do even better with United or Hyatt.

  2. @Rob: I think most of this “game” is about international premium cabin travel. If you’re planning on redeeming for domestic coach tickets, straight cash back probably makes more sense.

    I really think you are really off base on the Explorer award.

    The Explorer Award was the best reason to collect miles and the one reason American miles were more valuable than any other by far.

    I think there are a lot of people such as myself who are quietly collecting miles and planning on booking this award. How do you know there are only a few of us?

    It was the ultimate dream trip and now it is gone.

  4. Where is my math off above? Even a Club Carlson card can get more than 2% back in value.
