How much would you pay for a Chase Sapphire Preferred?

Seems that Chase is having some fun with A|B testing and variable pricing on their Sapphire Preferred card. Within a 5 minute span Sunday afternoon (prompted by this discussion on Milepoint) I got three different offers. Other than the phone number and the annual fee differences the offers appear to be identical.

Even more interesting is that when faced with the higher fee offer simply refreshing the application page usually gave me the lower number. Some times it went back up but further refreshes brought it down again.

Just another reminder that there are lots of variables in play at any point in time and getting the best deal isn’t always guaranteed, even from the same computer at the same time. And certainly not from any specific blog post. Make sure you’re checking more than one source.

  1. It wouldn’t matter to me, since I would be converting so Sapphire or Freedom after 11 months regardless. Or, to be more accurate, I just did.

  2. All three annual fees are overpriced in my book. The more chase cards you have, the less value you get out of the CSP.
