CVS runs discounted specials from time to time. You can get some really good deals on everyday items or items that are great to take on the road. For example, today CVS is running a coupon for $2 off Any Vitamin purchase. Vitamins, who cares right? Not so fast. Many people found out that you could order 1 Cliff Crunchy Peanut Butter Energy Bar that retails for $1.87 per bar and comes with free shipping. These are great items to take with you on long trips, hikes, to beaches, or anywhere else when you need some nourishment.

Here’s what the order looks like after the coupon is automatically applied:

What this means is that basically anyone could order a Cliff bar, check-out as a guest, and get it delivered for free. About mid-morning the CVS website started to slow down and the deal was eventually pulled.

Did any of you get in on this deal? How many Cliff bars did you order?

Comments

  1. It is still working, just tried placing the order and I received a confirmation e-mail.

  2. It seems to still be working. The site is taking a while and again it only works for the Cliff Crunchy Peanut Butter flavor

  3. should i experience carbon-guilt for causing the shipment of 1 small food item?

  4. Good call on locking the comments on the Malaysian plane article. Does take all types, as we know. Was going to comment privately but your “about” page doesn’t work, and had hoped to find a personal email there. No worry if you don’t bless this comment.

Your blog has high standards, but the idea that “all bloggers have to have higher standards” or whatever he said is nonsense if you’ve read many blogs. Darn few are worth reading. Yours is.

  5. The site is crashing. How crazy we are for free stuff. A 1.87 cliff bar crashed their site for thousands and thousands of dollars in sales.

  6. Hi Paul – I just tried for the sake of trying, it is still working! Yes, the site is slow. Yes, I will enjoy another Cliff bar. Are we crazy for doing this, maybe 😀
