A trip to Bora Bora or Moorea is relaxing. But just because it is relaxing doesn’t mean it has to be Boring Boring. Some friends booked an award ticket on Air Tahiti using Delta miles and are heading there in a few weeks. So when I received an email mid-day, I quickly sent back the first 5 things that popped into my head for any trip to Bora Bora or Moorea.

Here are my recommendations in no particular order.

1. Jet Ski around Bora Bora

Rent a jet ski or share one and take a tour around Bora Bora. It is a really fun way to spend a half day

2. Check Out Cooks Bay

Moorea restaurants aren’t good in general from my experience, but captain cooks bay is iconic might be worth a look at restaurants there. The Belvedere lookout was a great way to see the island. From the lookout you can see Mount Rotui, Cook’s Bay and Opunohu Bay.

3. Rent A Car On Moorea – Drive The Island

We rented a car on Moorea and drove around the island stopping at various points. We had lunch at the golf course and it was good food and good scenery.

4. Book The Direct Moorea To Bora Bora Flight Early

There is one flight between Moorea and Bora Bora that is direct. Try to book that one now cUse it sells out and you’ll have to connect back in Tahiti (PPT)

5. Go To Villa Mahana on Bora Bora

Make a reservation now! It is awesome! Trust me. My meal from this restaurant would easily be what I would order as a last meal

And if you don’t like any of these ideas…well, just sit back and enjoy the boring scenery with a cocktail.

Bottom Line

There is plenty of ways to spend your time on Bora Bora or Moorea. These were my quick tips for some friends who are heading there in a couple of weeks as part of a Delta award ticket on Air Tahiti in Business Class.

  1. Don’t go to Moorea at all? I love Tahiti but Moorea is my least favorite. Bora Bora is awesome though crazy expensive of course. Might want to think about how to get free breakfast… But loved Huahine and Rangiroa as well.

Above all DON’T stay any time to speak of on the island of Tahiti itself, except perhaps for the night you fly in or whatever. Its an interesting island, but it isn’t what you’re looking for.

And seriously, pay for an overwater bungalow at least once on your trip, you won’t regret it.
