One day after Christian Yelich drove in another six runs and seemingly cemented himself as the National League MVP, an uplifting piece written by Yelich appeared in The Players’ Tribune, a popular web site for first-person essays from professional athletes. And Milwaukee fans are going to love it.

Christian Yelich points to the dugout as he rounds the bases on his three-run home run in the second inning during the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on September 23, 2018 in Pittsburgh.

Titled, “Milwaukee ... LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!” his piece opens with praise of teammate Lorenzo Cain, delves into his first days with the organization and then encourages fans to flock to the ballpark for the final series of the season, starting Friday.

“I just remember sitting there on that plane with all those guys thinking about how much this organization really does seem like one big family,” Yelich writes, referring to a preseason trip aboard Mark Attanasio’s plane on their way to Milwaukee’s fan fest. Ryan Braun, Bob Uecker and Robin Yount were also on board.

“We fully understand that this team is more than just a random group of guys to you all — that the Brewers genuinely mean something to you. We realize that when we’re playing well it actually affects your lives and results in a certain level of joy and happiness throughout the city … and, actually, all across the state.”

He closes by suggesting that what Brewers fans have seen so far is just the beginning.

It wasn't the only new piece of high-profile journalism surrounding the prized offseason acquisition. Tyler Kepner posted a story with the New York Times, also going inside that plane ride and the fateful, even tragic, circumstances that brought Yelich to Milwaukee.
