Farmer says he could see record yields

A central Indiana farmer says he anticipates record corn yields this year.

Mike Beard raises corn, soybeans, and hogs in Clinton County.

“I’m probably 10 percent over my record yield- it’s going to be a good yield year for corn,” he says.

He tells Brownfield this was the year to apply extra nitrogen to avoid stalk quality issues.

“You not only benefited yield but your stalks are going to stand better as we go through the fall,” he says.

Beard says the soybean crop is also looking good, but it’s too early to know for sure.
