Illinois harvest running well ahead of normal

Illinois’ corn and soybean harvests are running well ahead of normal.

As of Sunday, 28 percent of Illinois corn had been harvested, up 18 percentage points from last year and 85 percent had reached maturity. The crop is 79 percent good to excellent.

Seventeen percent of Illinois soybeans have been harvested, up 9 percentage points from last year.

Soybeans coloring reached 93 percent, compared to the five- year average of 81 percent. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 75 percent. The crop is rated 79 percent good to excellent.

Illinois pastures are rated 56 percent good to excellent, compared to 20 percent this time last year.

Sorghum harvested reached 14 percent which is in line with last year.

Temperatures across Illinois averaged 9 degrees above normal last week.
