Less than 1 week until 2014 Farm Bill expires

Negotiators are in the final week of getting a new farm bill done before the current bill expires.

The 2014 Farm Bill ends Sunday, meaning conferees from the House and Senate have only a few days to finalize the 2018 version to avoid an extension.

Some lawmakers indicate progress has been made on key differences like the nutrition title, while others suggest an extension is likely.

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow recently told Brownfield funding for current Farm Bill programs runs through December, so it probably won’t be necessary to do an extension right away on September 30th if the impasse continues.
