Race Dance Gala will benefit charities, including hospital building fund in Ruidoso

Events involve Ruidoso Downs Race Track, Rainmakers Resort and Club and Spencer Theater

Officials with Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino, America’s preeminent quarter horse race track, in conjunction with Rainmakers Resort and Club and the Spencer Performing Arts Theater, jointly announced the inaugural Rain Dance gala event to take place in July of 2019 in the Sacramento Mountains near Ruidoso.

Rain Dance will be an upscale, gala event surrounded by numerous activities taking place in the greater Ruidoso area. Currently planned activities include the $1 million Rainbow Futurity and Derby horse races scheduled for July 20-21, and the Rainbow time trials on July 5-7; Friday,

On July 12, there will be a golf tournament at Rainmakers Resort, the region’s top-rated golf course. On Saturday, July 13, the grand charity gala twill be staged at Rainmakers Resort and Club.  Additionally, there will be numerous concerts and programs throughout July at the Spencer Theater. Proceeds from the events will go to various charities, including the Lincoln County Medical Center building fund.

Rain Dance will welcome visitors from throughout the southwest who have each summer for generations made a pilgrimage to the cool mountains for horse racing, golf, and relaxation.

“Ruidoso Downs is an important part of this community and we are excited to launch an event that we believe will become a mainstay every summer,” Jeff True, president and general manager of Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino, and co-founder of Rain Dance, said.

Bill Vaughan, owner of Rainmakers Resort and Club, and co-founder of  Rain Dance, said, “This gala event represents a major addition to the Ruidoso area schedule at the peak of tourist season which will expand Ruidoso’s tourism appeal to a national audience.”

Rain Dance will be designated by the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable event.
