Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette Review

The temptation to start this post with "Tonight Mathew I'm going to be..." was real but I realised not everyone dreamed of impersonating a celebrity via karaoke and reigned myself in...

Another day, another new palette; it does seem that we are drowning in a powdery mass of eyeshadow launches at the moment, and as such it was going to take something really special to stand out from the crowd - let alone cause mass panic and rumours of instant "sold out" status. And yet that is exactly what the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette has achieved.

Since preliminary images of the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette began circling online a few months ago, comment streams were awash with worries that this new and admittedly beautiful eyeshadow palette, would sell out like its predecessor - something I haven't really witnessed since back when MAC and their limited edition collections ruled the roost. Well the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette has landed online and as of right now it is still in stock but do you really need it?

Anyone who's remotely active on Instagram will be familiar with the now synonymous-with-the-brand, rose-gold, art-deco inspired Charlotte Tilbury packaging; it's a permanent fixture within many a photo stream, purely as it photographs so beautifully. Well the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette bucks such trend and is presented within a glossy yet glittery, burgundy compact which in my opinion falls a little flat. I understand the need for change and understand where the brand was coming from by utilising the hue of their equally iconic box packaging - and of course the glitter to represent the star element - but truthfully it lacks the wow factor I've come to expect from the brand. The good news however is that the eyeshadows inside the palette do not disappoint both in shade selection and formula.

Who doesn't love a make-up product with a concept, let alone a brand who's entire identity is build upon demystifying the art of beauty? As you may be aware, the vast majority of Charlotte Tilbury beauty products slot into at least one ready made look, meaning you never have to guess which lipstick, blush or eyeshadow palette pairs best with what. Now the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette may not technically slot into such Charlotte Tilbury structure but it does contain four ready made eyeshadow trios, each of which are complimentary to all skin and eye shades - you can of course mix and match within the palette to suit you own needs too.

I'd best describe the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette as a nude assortment of colours with an almost surprise element; the twist being alongside your everyday, suit all, beiges and brown hues, nestles an array of pretty pinks and berry tones which add both dimension and diversity to the line up. If I had to - because really the very definition of neutral is just that, it doesn't lean heavily either way - I would define this to be a warm palette. One in which is more user friendly and universally flattering, regardless of your make-up application abilities; aka you do not run the risk of looking like you have an eye infection - hey we've all been there with pink eyeshadow haven't we?

I won't pretend for one moment that the Charlotte Tilbury cosmetic range falls within the affordable sector but I will say that I have yet to try a product that has not blown me away in terms of formulation. No price isn't everything, nor does it instantly equate to high quality but with Charlotte Tilbury products, particularly those that are powder based, you truly do get what you pay for and then some. As such it probably goes without saying that each eyeshadow within the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette glides onto the skin with ease, blends beautifully and has very little product fall out. I do find the glitter based shades to be a smidgen drier and best combined with a primer but other than that the textures are faultless.

Do you need the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette? Probably not but this is a rarity in the sense that it adds a little magic to everyday shades - which admittedly is easier said than done in a world of neutral eyeshadows - and as there are no less than 12 shades, their truly is an option for every occasion and mood.

As you've probably guessed Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes Palette is limited edition (the best ones always are) but it is still available online here for £60 - link.
