Almonds and cherries added to trade aid list

The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture has added shelled almonds and fresh sweet cherries to the list of commodities producers can receive payments on as part of the Market Facilitation Program.

Sonny Perdue says eligible farmers can receive three cents per pound for shelled almonds and 16 cents per pound for fresh sweet cherries for half of last year’s production.

USDA has also expanded the timeline hog producers can use for production data to July 15 through August 15 to more accurately reflect their live hog numbers.
