The long-awaited completion of construction on Shed Road is expected to come within the next couple of weeks.

Construction on Shed Road in Bossier City.

Bossier City Engineer Mark Hudson said Tuesday that construction on the important traffic connection is expected to be finished the first week of October.

About a mile-long portion of Shed Road, connecting Benton Road to Airline Highway, has been undergoing drainage improvements and being expanded from two lanes to four for about two years.

“About three weeks ago we restored two lanes of traffic in front of Cascio’s (Market Bistro), I’m happy to report,” Hudson told the Bossier City Council on Tuesday.

The $9.5 million construction project is a federal and city endeavor, with 80 percent federally funded and 20 percent city funded.

Numerous vehicles use Shed Road to get from Benton to Airline and vice versa. According to data from the city, 7,528 vehicles per day used the road in 2013.

By 2033, that number is predicted to be 10,140 vehicles per day.
