Historical trends of machine metrics is available through the Monitoring OData interface starting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 1808 onwards. With the new OData availability, a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops admin will be able to query and visualize the historical machine metrics through OData clients like MS-Excel.

Sample scenario 1

The admin logs in in the morning and wants to know the status of the VDAs in a Delivery Group for the last 5 hours. The admin can query the new OData and get the following VDA metrics:

  • Number of VDAs registered correctly with the controller
  • Number of VDAs in maintenance mode
  • Number of VDAs powered-on

All these data are aggregated at Delivery Group level. Based on this data, the admin can perform further actions such as registering the VDAs correctly with the controller, scaling-up/scaling-down the number of VDAs and so on. The following screenshot displays the Total Machines Vs PoweredOn Vs Registered Machines bar chart for the last 5 hours.

Sample scenario 2

The admin wants to know if the environment was over-provisioned or under-provisioned during the last 24 hours. The newly introduced historical machine data will help the Admin to find out how many VDAs were up and running at the desired point of time in the past. The following screenshot displays the Total Machines Vs PoweredOn Machines bar chart for the last 24 hours.
