Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield arrived Thursday night for his team's battle with the visiting New York Jets adorned in a Christian Yelich jersey. Perhaps the threads transmitted some greatness into the 2018 No. 1 overall pick, who then saw his first NFL action of the season and led Cleveland to its first win in 20 games, a 21-17 win over the New York Jets.

Mayfield and Yelich have been friendly for some time, and with Yelich getting some much-deserved MVP buzz over the past couple weeks, it was certainly a good fashion statement to make.

Baker Mayfield will be pulling for Christian Yelich to win the National League MVP.

From June:

Mayfield entered the game late in the first half for an injured Tyrod Taylor and reinvigorated the Browns, leading his team back from a 14-0 deficit to tie. He caught a 2-point conversion pass on a trick play to knot the score at 14, then engineered a go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter.

Cleveland went winless in 2017, then tied in the first week of the new season to snap a 17-game losing streak. The winless streak reached 19 after a close loss to the Saints in Week 2.

Waukesha West High School product Joe Schobert helped seal the win with an interception of Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.

It's not the first time Mayfield has sported Brewers swag.

Browns fan (and Yelich teammate) Travis Shaw was clamoring for Mayfield to get into the game.

Needless to say, Yelich approves of the outcome.

The feeling is mutual.
