After 10 years of construction, InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is scheduled to open this October in China’s Songjiang District.

This isn’t your average hotel!  16 of the 18 floors are underground.  The 2 remaining floors are submerged inside a 33-foot-deep aquarium!  The hotel is located on the site of an abandoned quarry, 20 miles from Shanghai.

Starting in October, You’ll Be Able to Use IHG Points to Stay at the InterContinental Shimao Wonderland Hotel in China!

The hotel has 337 luxurious rooms and suites with breathtaking panoramic views of Shenkeng Quarry.

Every room (besides those underwater) will have a balcony with views of waterfalls that spill down the hotel walls.  The subterranean floors will have a pool and water sports center and for those daring enough, the hotel features a spot to go bungee jumping and rock climbing.

The New Hotel Is a Magical Paradise Where You Can Eat, Swim, Bungee Jump, and Live Like Royalty

The InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is environmentally friendly and plans to generate its own geothermal and solar energy to power its everyday functions.  The hotel was built by British firm Atkins, which was behind the 5-star Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai!

Room rates for cash and award stays are currently unavailable.  But I’m definitely adding this hotel to my bucket list!
