Weather

A more active pattern ahead

Above-normal temperatures will cover much of the country during the next few days, although cool air will be lurking across the nation’s northern tier. In addition, clouds and rainfall will suppress temperatures in parts of the southwestern and south-central U.S.

Five-day rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches or more from southeastern Arizona into the mid-South. Rain, heaviest in the upper Midwest, will also fall across the North, but dry weather will prevail during the next few days in flooded sections of the Carolinas.

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- to above-normal temperatures and rainfall across much of the country. Cooler-than-normal conditions should be limited to the Pacific Coast States and northern sections of the Rockies and Plains, while drier-than-normal weather will be confined to the Pacific Northwest and parts of the Southwest.
