A young fan identified as Michael got a chance to meet Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich on Monday night after the Brewers beat the Reds, 8-0. The Oak Creek resident roped in a little bit of history when he caught Yelich's home run ball, part of the star's second cycle of the season, and he traded it back to Yelich after the game for an autographed bat.

Yelich tucked the home-run ball just inside the right field foul pole for his 31st homer of the year, then followed up with a triple to complete the cycle. He became just the second Brewers player to hit a cycle at home (Chad Moeller in 2004) and the first to ever hit two cycles in the same season -- and the third to turn the feat in MLB history. He's the first in the modern era to record two cycles in the same season against the same team.

Adam McCalvy of MLB.com said an usher corralled the home run ball and gave it to Michael. At that point, the ball wasn't quite as significant as it would become an at-bat later.

Yelich went 6-for-6 against the Reds on Aug. 29, part of a 13-12 win at Great American Ballpark in Cicninnati. In that game, he also recorded the triple -- understood as the most difficult of the four cycle components -- as the final element he needed.
