Illinois crops progressing faster than average

Illinois crops continue to progress faster than average.

As of Sunday, 12% of Illinois corn had been harvested, 8 percentage points more than last year. Corn maturity reached 75 percent, 28 percentage points ahead of the five-year average. Illinois corn is rated 76 percent good to excellent.

Four percent of Illinois soybeans are harvested, which is slightly ahead of  1% this time last year. Soybeans coloring reached 87 percent, 25 percentage points ahead of the average. The soybean crop is 77 percent good to excellent.

Sorghum is rated 74 percent good to excellent in Illinois and topsoil moisture is 87 percent adequate to surplus.
