Michigan crops rapidly maturing

The USDA says warm, dry weather across Michigan is maturing crops faster than normal.

The USDA says corn is now 95 percent in the dough stage, 80 percent dented, 26 percent mature and condition is 51 percent good to excellent.  Soybeans are 38 percent dropping leaves and condition is rated 65 percent good to excellent.

Dry beans are 69 percent dropping leaves and 43 percent good to excellent.  Corn silage harvest is nearly halfway complete while sugarbeet harvest is almost at 20 percent.

Harvest continues for apples, potatoes, tomatoes and squash.
