Time running out for Farm Bill conference committee

The Farm Bill conference committee is running out of time to wrap up an agreement before the current law expires September 30th.

Minnesota Democrat Collin Peterson says progress has been made to reconcile the House and Senate versions, but there is still work left to be done.

Peterson says he’s urging his fellow conferees to focus on the essentials and avoid ideological fights.

North Carolina Republican Mark Walker recently defended SNAP reforms included in the House farm bill, saying 83 percent of Americans support the reforms.

Differences over the nutrition title and conservation continue to be the biggest obstacles with only a few legislative days left before the 2014 Farm Bill expires.
