Missouri: STEM bill passes in special session

The Missouri legislature has unanimously passed a bill to promote a STEM awareness program.

A USDA report from 2015 said graduates with STEM skills in science, technology, engineering and math will be increasingly needed in agriculture careers. Those jobs are in environmental science, animal and plant genetics, information technology programming and development, financial and climate change analysis and accounting, to name a few.

The Missouri bill also creates a computer science education fund to provide professional development to teachers.

The bill passed in the special session convened last week by Governor Mike Parson.
