Andrew Van Ginkel is the Badgers' most experienced and disruptive outside linebacker.

MADISON – Wisconsin (2-1) is preparing to open Big Ten play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against host Iowa (3-0).

Following is UW’s preliminary injury report released Monday.

QUESTIONABLE: ILB Mike Maskalunas (right leg), TE Zander Neuville (right leg), S Reggie Pearson (left leg), OLB Andrew Van Ginkel (right leg).

OUT: TE Luke Benzschawel (right knee), ILB Griffin Grady (right leg), DE Kraig Howe (right leg), TB Bradrick Shaw (left knee).

OUT FOR SEASON: OLB Mason Platter (right leg), DE Garrett Rand (right Achilles), OL Blake Smithback (right knee).

Notes

» UW needs both Van Ginkel and Neuville, both of whom were injured early in the loss to BYU, this week against Iowa. Van Ginkel is the team’s most experienced and disruptive outside linebacker. He had four tackles, including one-half sack, in the victory over the Hawkeyes last season. Neuville is UW’s best blocking tight end and the run game suffers if he isn’t on the field.

» The fact that outside linebacker Tyler Johnson, who was questionable last week and played sparingly against BYU, isn’t listed this week is good news for UW.
