Good City Brewing's downtown Milwaukee taproom, which is being built near the Fiserv Forum, is seeking a loan from the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp.

Good City Brewing's taproom near downtown Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum and Wheel & Sprocket's Bay View bike shop both are seeking financing from a nonprofit business lender.

Both projects are seeking loans from Milwaukee Economic Development Corp., according to information released Monday by the lender.

Good City Brewing, led by Daniel Katt, is seeking a $1 million loan for its $2.18 million project. Educators Credit Union is the primary lender.

Good City will lease an 11,000-square-foot building that is part of an entertainment center the Milwaukee Bucks are developing just across North Phillips Avenue from the Fiserv Forum.

The brewery in May announced plans for the taproom. It will include food, Good City brews and products from other Wisconsin craft breweries.

The entertainment center is to open next spring. Its only other announced tenant so far is Punch Bowl Social.

Good City will continue to operate its brewery at 2108 N. Farwell Ave., and is moving its offices and warehouse to Century City I, a light industrial building at 3945 N. 31st St., at the Century City business park.

Wheel & Sprocket

Meanwhile, Wheel & Sprocket, led by Noel and Amelia Kegel, is seeking a $1.7 million loan for its $3.4 million project. BMO Harris Bank is the primary lender.

Wheel & Sprocket disclosed plans a year ago to open its first bike shop in Milwaukee within a renovated warehouse at 187 E. Becher St.

The company, which operates nine locations in Wisconsin and northern Illinois, plans to move its offices to the Bay View building from Hales Corners.

The renovated 10,800-square-foot building, which Wheel & Sprocket bought in November, also might include a restaurant and tavern.

The Good City and Wheel & Sprocket loan applications will be reviewed Tuesday by MEDC.
