As United prepares to introduce their new Embraer E75 planes into service the first routes have been announced. The planes will operate from the O’Hare hub to both Washington, DC (DCA) and Boston (BOS) starting in May 2014.
The two routes are currently served by a mix of mainline and regional aircraft. The DCA service will operate in the afternoon from ORD and will be replacing a 737-800 which currently operates at roughly the same time on that route.
The Boston turn will run in the mornings; That flight is also a 738 on the schedule prior to the E75s entering service.
The cabin layout on the new E75s offers a solid mix of premium seating for passengers. There are 12 seats in first class and another 16 in the Economy Plus section. And the 48 seats of regular economy class pitch, too. Still, that’s a decent ratio of seats and should offer up decent odds for upgrades given the lower overall capacity on board.

Expect more frequencies and routes to start cropping up with the E75s on the timetable, but for now these are the first two.

I really wish I could get a flight from BOS to either DCA or BWI on UA. Now that US is leaving its really tough or really expensive.
