Largest hotel fitness center I’ve seen

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis has the largest hotel fitness center I have ever seen inside a hotel. After a $1.5 million renovation, the 32,000 square feet athletic club is the jewel of the hotel.

Check out these workout spaces.

Hyatt Stay Fit

Hyatt Stay Fit.

Room 1

Weights, balls and mats.

room-2

Stationary bikes and treadmills.

Room-2a

Opposite angle of the Stay Fit exercise machine room.

boxing room

Boxing bag room.

Dance Studio

Dance studio.

Last Friday and Saturday there were dozens of teenage competitors in the Hyatt hotel and on the streets of Minneapolis for the Minnesota State High School League Dance Team Tournament.

Weight room

Weight rooms. The far room was the main weight room, but it was in use and I did not get a better photo.

And then to finish off the Stay Fit rooms is the hoops room.

basketball court

Full-size basketball court.

The indoor pool is an odd set-up with the swimming pool elevated and three floors of rooms with patios and balconies adjacent to the pool area.

pool-1

Indoor pool on elevated deck. No hot tub though.

pool-2

Poolside rooms with direct access to the 6th floor fitness rooms without taking an elevator in the hotel. These rooms might be the right fit for some guests who stay at the 24 floor Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.

I have been at hotels and resorts with extensive outdoor facilities like tennis courts, basketball courts and more. These are the most extensive facilities I have seen indoors in a city business hotel.

Have you been in a city hotel with more indoor fitness room facilities?

The J.W. Marriott in Seoul is very extensive, I still have fond memories of it 12 years later. The indoor running track was spectacular.

That looks like they just converted a ballroom in to a fitness center. Hope to eventually try it and out to see if it is as well equipped as it seems.

Hilton Sydney has very good fitness center. Also Doubletree by Hilton in Bratislava has very nice fitness area with Technogym equipment.

Four Seasons San Francisco – no contest. 120,000+ square feet and all the equipment and classes you could imagine.

That is awesome! I would love to hit that one up sometime.

@Yev – I have not seen the Four Seasons San Francisco fitness center. I will have to make an effort to check that out this year. Caveat there though is the building is also residences.

Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago is another large fitness center facility I have seen in the 80-story shared building where 60 floors are residential units.

I second the JW Marriott Seoul. It has many of the same facilities, but the studios and courts aren’t as big. It does have a rock climbing wall and racquetball courts though!

Renaissance ClubSport Laguna Hills, CA – 75,000 sq ft

Its definitely the largest that I’ve been in, especially that wasn’t basically a separate business attached to the hotel (I’ve been to two hotels that might give the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis a run for there money in that category).

I’ve played basketball and dodgeball with groups from work in their a number of times. The workout facilities are nice enough that a number of people from work stay their solely for that reason.

I’ll try and visit Renaissance Laguna Hills next time I visit my sister who lives near there.
