‘Pork Belly on a Stick’ was a hit at the Iowa State Fair

One of the hottest new food items at this year’s Iowa State Fair was the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s (IPPA) “Brown Sugar Pork Belly on a Stick.”

“Pork belly is one of the highest trending items in food service and we wanted to capture some of the excitement around pork belly,” said IPPA’s Drew Mogler.

Mogler says they sold 18,000 pieces of the new item at the Iowa Pork Tent. The “quarter-pound of honey-cured pork belly rubbed in brown sugar” was priced at seven dollars a stick.
