Corn, soybean export inspections mixed

The USDA reports soybean export inspections as of the week ending August 16th, 2018 remain on pace to meet projections for the 2017/18 marketing year. The current marketing year for beans, corn and sorghum runs through August 31st.

Wheat came out at 345,375 tons, down 142,024 from the week ending August 9th and 323,335 lower than the week ending August 17th, 2017. For the 2018/19 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 4,211,424 tons, compared to 6,768,077 in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,096,647 tons, 165,636 less than the previous week, but 376,434 more than this time last year. Nearing the end of the 2017/18 marketing year, corn inspections are 55,133,487 tons, compared to 55,283,751 late in 2016/17.

Soybeans were pegged at 639,001 tons, 57,687 above the week before, but 29,709 below a year ago. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 54,591,229 tons, compared to 56,397,999 last year.

Sorghum totaled 76,306 tons, an increase of 75,634 on the week, but a decrease of 29,634 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,971,816 tons, compared to 5,809,413 in 2016/17.
