Mayor of DC Mocks Trump After President Throws Twitter Tantrum Over Failed Military Parade
On Thursday, the Department of Defense announced that President Donald Trump's requested military parade in Washington, D.C. will not take place on Veterans Day this year, instead being postponed until 2019 at the earliest.
Trump, who has reportedly wanted the military to throw a parade ever since seeing the Bastille Day parade in France, is predictably furious. He took to Twitter, proclaiming that he only canceled the parade because local politicians in D.C. highballed him on cost:

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser promptly responded with a mocking reply, written in Trump's vernacular:
Yup, I’m Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington DC, the local politician who finally got thru to the reality star in th… https://t.co/oFdxc5DaNB— Muriel Bowser (@Muriel Bowser) 1534510357
In fact, Bowser may be underestimating it. The cost of Trump's proposed parade — including security, transportation and use of fighter jets, helicopters, tanks, and armored vehicles, and assignment of duty to troops — is now estimated at $92 million.
That is more the White House's proposed cuts to the Land and Water Conservation Fund, school safety grants, and federal housing for AIDS sufferers, combined.
