52-year-old man dies in afternoon apartment fire on Milwaukee's southwest side

A 52-year-old man died in an apartment fire in the 3000 block of South 56th Street near West Oklahoma Avenue Wednesday afternoon, Milwaukee police said.

Milwaukee firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. They found the man dead in the apartment.

The fire appears to have started in a bedroom, police said in a news release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
