F2F Genetics Network aims to cut seed costs

A farmer network has created an independent seed brand which will offer seed at 40 percent of the current market price.

Farmer’s Business Network’s head of seed Ron Wulfkuhle will lead the F2F Genetics Network. He tells Brownfield they’ve cut extras compared to traditional seed companies and will sell direct through an e-commerce platform.  “Our corn prices are at $99 for conventional corn and $29 for glyphosate tolerant soybeans.”

Wulfkuhle says farmers will be able to keep seed and become more of their own seed producer.  “Our initial hybrids are hybrids that have been developed that are great genetics but aren’t available to farmers today through normal sorts of distribution.  Going forward, we’ll continue to work with various independent breeders on developing new hybrids.”

He says the network is building an agronomy team and other staff members will be able to assist farmers with agronomic management needs.

  • I’ve been using an OSS glyphosate tolerant soybean seed for several years. I will buy dicambia tolerant seed next year due to the drift damage.
