USDA announces milk buy
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will buy $50 million of fluid milk for food assistance programs.
The USDA says the 12 to 15-million-gallon purchase is separate from the market facilitation program.
The National Milk Producers Federation says this is the first time USDA had made a purchase of fluid milk for food assistance.
Dairy companies interested in selling milk are invited to participate in a webinar next week for more details.
