Corona del Sol High School students were evacuated to the football field Tuesday morning due to a "strange odor," officials said.

Tempe Fire Department was called about a possible gas leak but crews were unable to locate any source for the odor, Tempe Fire said.

Southwest Gas was on scene and the high school was turned over to them for further investigation, Fire said.

Students and teachers filled the bleachers and field as they waited, an eyewitness said.

The evacuation ended after the all clear was given shortly after 9 a.m., and students were allowed back to their classes, school officials said.
