Man found dead in Santa Clara River bottom identified

Authorities have identified the man whose body was found in the Santa Clara River bottom outside Santa Paula last week.

Daniel Price, 32, was a Santa Paula resident, the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office said Monday.

His body was found around 5 p.m. Thursday near Peck Road, just south of city limits. Ventura County Sheriff's officials said the death appeared to be the result of a drug overdose and no criminal activity was suspected.

As of Monday afternoon, the cause of death was still pending, the medical examiner's office said.
