Golfer Mark Lye's Talis Park home sells before going to auction

The auction for the Talis Park home of professional golfer and Golf Channel analyst Mark Lye is off.

As of Friday the 4,575-square-foot contemporary home at 16763 Prato Way is under contract, with plans to settle Wednesday.

"After two years of being on the traditional real estate market with little activity, Elite Auctions was able to secure a cash contract on our home in just two weeks," Lye said.

PGA golfer Mark Lye’s Talis Park home in North Naples has sold just days before going up for auction. The five-bedroom home was last on the market for $2.9 million.

Details of the real estate transaction are confidential until settlement.

EJ McLean, with MVP Realty, had the listing for the home, which has five bedrooms, 4½ bathrooms, a covered outdoor kitchen, two two-car garages, two home offices, a 40-foot pool, a large great room and a fireplace.

The custom home built in 2015 was intended to be a forever home for the Lye family, but after nine months of living in the exclusive North Naples gated community, Lye and his wife decided to move closer to downtown Naples, in the Isles of Collier Preserves community, to be closer to their children’s school.

Selling his home in Talis Park had been a challenge for Lye, who had the property on and off the market for over two years with minimal activity before hiring Elite Auctions.

“The reason we put it on the market with the auction company is because the Realtors have not been able to do the job,” said Lye, who joined the PGA Tour in 1977 and played for 18 years.

The home saw 25 potential buyers who visited during scheduled previews of the home and more than 40 potential buyers who showed interest in the property in just one week of marketing the property with Elite Auctions, said Randy Haddaway, founder and CEO of Elite Auctions.

"Elite Auctions continues to accelerate luxury home sales in SWFL with the sale of the Mark Lye property, the former Rocco Mediate property and others. The buyers are there but require a sense of urgency, through Elite’s program, for them to react to the market and identify opportunity," Haddaway said.

Elite Auctions sold fellow pro golfer Mediate’s Talis Park home for $2.5 million in May, just days before it went to auction.
