Frequent Traveler University Hotel Sold Out, Where to Stay?

On Friday I mentioned that the upcoming Frequent Traveler University event in Seattle (April 25-27) was nearly 90% sold out.

Now, it seems, it’s 95% sold out and not only is the hotel room block full, the host hotel — the Seattle Airport Marriott — is completely sold out.

There are still about 25 tickets available for the event as of this writing.

So if you want to attend the event and pick up one of the last remaining tickets, where should you stay?

My suggestion is the Hilton Seattle Airport.

According to Google it’s 0.3 miles, a 6 minute walk, between the two hotels.

The current cancellable rate there is $129, and both points and cash and points rates are available. Cash and points is 12,000 points plus $50. There may be additional discounted rates you’re eligible for.

Key here is, an easy walk to the host hotel.

The Clarion Hotel Seattle Airport is actually even closer. The advance purchase rate there is $77.60++.

While I’ve stayed at the Marriott, Doubletree, Radisson, and Holiday Inn and found all fine I haven’t been to the Clarion and it appears the Days Inn Seattle Airport gets a better rating on TripAdvisor (not that I put a ton of stock in those rankings, I read reviews for consistent themes and look at the pictures). Personally I’d pick the Hilton if making a choice!

Although I imagine that closer to the event there will be folks who have Marriott reservations and whose plans change — some rooms may still open up.

  1. I booked the Hilton with cash and points a few months. Good deal and a short walk (google maps don’t lie to me) to the Marriott. Any info on whether there is a lounge at the hotel?

  2. Hilton Cash and Points is a good deal. $56/night including taxes/fees and only 12,000 pts. vs nearly $150/night with taxes/fees for a regular booking.

Just booked it so there is still availability!

  3. I have a reservation at the host hotel, but was able to get the Holiday Inn for about $65 per night including tax with the Travelpony deal last week. It seems like the Holiday Inn is completing a massive renovation and it is only about a 6 or 7 minute walk from the Marriott!
