Q: Can you tell me when Lee County will complete the extension of Logan Boulevard northerly to Bonita Beach Road? The Collier County portion is complete.

— Bob Bradley, Naples

A: Expect the Logan Boulevard extension to be completed in 2019, probably next summer or fall. The actual end date for the new north-south connector for Collier and Lee counties is dependent upon permitting now.

This two-lane divided road in Collier County will eventually extend Logan Boulevard to Bonita Springs.

“Looks like we are finishing up with the city of Bonita Springs so that we can get that permit out. It looks like it’s plus or minus third quarter this year, and then we’ll have one year once we get the project started,” said Kevin Ratterree, vice president of GL Homes. “We are required to have it done in one year, but it probably won’t take that long.”

GL Homes, the Florida builder that developed the communities of Riverstone and StoneCreek on the northern stretch of Logan Boulevard, will construct the road extension as required by a development agreement among the company, Collier County and Bonita Springs. Logan now extends slightly more than 2 miles north of Immokalee Road in North Naples, past the gated residential communities of Olde Cypress, Riverstone and Stonecreek.

The plans include a roundabout where Logan Boulevard North meets Bonita Beach Road between the Bonita residential developments of Palmira Golf & Country Club and VillageWalk of Bonita Springs.

In April, the Bonita Springs City Council approved the road design for the final stretch of Logan Boulevard between the Collier-Lee county line and Bonita Beach Road.

“GL Homes had an obligation for a roadway. The city asked them to make it a little more of a boulevard with a median,” said Matt Feeney, Bonita Springs public works director. “We asked for something a little different than what was contemplated.”

Designs show a two-lane, divided road with an 8-foot median. The terminus will be a two-lane roundabout at the new intersection.
