Q: I was wondering if GL had released any timeline on the opening of the Sprouts and other shops at Logan and Immokalee?

A: At least a half-dozen businesses have leased units to join anchor Sprouts Farmers Market at the Logan Landings retail center under construction on the corner of Logan Boulevard and Immokalee Road in North Naples. Expect five to seven restaurants to land at the new center.

Sprouts Farmers Market will anchor Logan Landings retail center under construction on the corner of Logan Boulevard, top, and Immokalee Road in North Naples.

“We are working on finalizing a few restaurant deals,” said Michael Friedman, president of GL Commercial, an arm of Florida’s GL Homes developing the new retail center. “We have a lot of interest. Obviously, it’s a great location and has a lot of interest by everybody. We think that it should be a great success.”

So far, two restaurants, a dental office, pet store, hair salon and nail salon will be part of the center anchored by the 29,843-square-foot grocery store, according to the retail center’s site plan. The 8,106-square-foot pet store is the second-largest retail space in the 18-acre center.

While the occupancy plan lists the specific use of these units, it does not provide the names of the businesses under contract. GL Commercial is keeping these names under wraps.

“We are about 65 to 70 percent leased right now,” Friedman said. “Our main focus right now is to fill in a couple of our restaurant spots. That would take us to about 80 to 85 percent. And then the balance would be some service, retail, maybe yoga, Pilates, salons, various uses like that.”

One of the restaurants signed will have a freestanding 5,300-square-foot sit-down venue with outdoor dining next to a water feature in a nearly half-acre lake on the hard corner of Logan and Immokalee. Another restaurant up to 7,500 square feet with patio dining is planned on the other side of the water feature, plans show.

A second restaurant signed is a 2,744-square-foot eatery in a five-unit strip northeast of the grocery store. Plans show spaces designated for seven other restaurant units ranging from 1,387 square feet to 4,082 square feet. Four of those smaller spaces are contiguous, though, so they could be combined to create larger restaurants.

Sprouts Farmers Market will anchor Logan Landings retail center under construction on the corner of Logan Boulevard, bottom, and Immokalee Road, upper left, in North Naples.

Another six units, ranging from 1,249 square feet to 3,505 square feet, are designated either for retail or office spaces, plans show. Most of the units will be inline spaces with Sprouts, in the center’s southeast corner near the rear of the property.

The 3,586-square-foot dental office will front Immokalee Road in a two-unit outparcel it will share with a proposed 2,417-square-foot restaurant. Another 3,505-square-foot outparcel fronting Logan Boulevard is listed on the site map as a nonrestaurant.

A couple of the outparcels won’t be built until about six months after the rest of the center opens, Friedman said.

“Our completion for the entire center we’re building now is the end of January,” he said. “So in general, we are happy with our progress. We are on schedule.”

A target opening date for Sprouts’ first regional location is not available yet.

“We have not announced an opening date at this time,” Diego Romero, Sprouts’ corporate communications manager, replied via email when recently asked about the store’s launch.

“We’ve only announced stores opening through the end of this year. I’ll be in touch when we have more news about the Naples location,” emailed Kalia Pang, the grocer’s senior public relations specialist.

The developer anticipates Sprouts to open within two months after the store is completed early next year.

“We’re expecting them to be open in the first quarter,” Friedman said. “It remains on target to be open in the first quarter.”

Phoenix-based Sprouts has five stores operating on the Gulf Coast of Florida, with the sixth Florida stores opening in October in Winter Park. The nearest store is on U.S. 41 in south Sarasota. The chain operates more than 300 stores in what will soon be 19 states, according to information on sprouts.com.

Since launching its first store 15 years ago, Sprouts has become known for offering fresh, natural and organic products at affordable prices. About 90 percent of the products in Sprouts stores are natural or organic. The stores feature more than 1,800 Sprouts brand products.

“I think Sprouts is going to be a big hit. I think it should be well-received,” Friedman said.
