Uncertainty brought on by trade disruptions “disturbing”

A southern Minnesota crop and livestock farmer affected by trade disruptions says she is disturbed by all the uncertainty.

Kristin Weeks-Duncanson is part of a family grain and hog operation near Mankato.

“People need to keep in mind that we’re making decisions for a crop we haven’t harvested yet for next year, and trying to anticipate what that’s going to look like becomes quite difficult.”

Having grown frustrated by the escalating trade war with China, Weeks-Duncanson says she found an outlet where shared voices might be able to reach decision-makers in Washington.

“Farmers for Free Trade is an opportunity to work with farmers and ranchers around the country to put a voice and some faces to what this tariff situation and trade situation means to us.”

She tells Brownfield the current trade situation not only impacts farmers, but rural communities across the country as well.
