Ethanol production down on week, but up on year

U.S. ethanol production declined last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.064 million barrels a day, down 10,000 on the week with firmer corn prices limiting profitability, but 62,000 above a year ago as the industry continues to expect strong domestic demand and the possibility of year-round E15 use.

Stocks jumped 314,000 barrels to 21.967 million.

Corn for ethanol use remains on pace to meet or exceed USDA projections for the current marketing year, which runs through the end of this month.
