See Santa Paula police officers dance, joining 'In My Feelings Challenge'

Staff reports

Santa Paula police joined the dance challenge sweeping law enforcement agencies across the country, taking a few minutes out of their day to bust a move and challenge their peers across Ventura County to do the same.

It was all captured on video. (If you can’t see the video above, see it at https://youtu.be/ModxEGd8O_o.)

They’re taking part in the “In My Feelings Challenge,” a popular dance craze on social media that was made popular by New York comedian Shiggy.

But they said they refuse to dance alone.

In initiating the challenge in Ventura County, Santa Paula police are calling out to the Port Hueneme Police Department, Ventura Police Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Oxnard Police Department to do the same.

“This video was done in the spirit of good fun in an effort to humanize our law enforcement officers.  We hope to reach individuals that we normally aren’t able to connect with through the use of making a video like this,” Santa Paula Police Chief Steve McLean said.

In a news release about the video, the Santa Paula Police Department added the following disclaimer: “In the video, the driver of the vehicle was always present safely driving, but not shown. We do not endorse jumping out of moving vehicles. Do not attempt this stunt or the Santa Paula Police will be forced to dance with you, then cite you! Thank you.”
