Country Christmas Pinecone Card with Layered Stamps

My project today is a country Christmas pinecone card with layered stamps using Dina Kowal’s new Layered Pinecone set by Impression Obsession.  I am in absolute awe of the beautiful pinecone image and I can’t believe how easy it was to make.  I don’t think I have mentioned recently how much I love my MISTI.  Layering the five stamps in this set was easy as pie using my MISTI and the overall image is so beautiful and impressive.

Come see how I made this country Christmas pinecone card with layered stamps.

Pinecone Stamping Instructions

Dina posted a project using this set a few days ago and I followed her instructions and used the same inks that she used. If you look at the stamp set picture below it is fairly easy to see the order that the stamps should be used.  Starting at the top left you will use the solid pinecone stamp first.  From there you follow to the top right image and work your way back and forth finishing with the smallest stamp on the bottom left.

Layered Pinecone

The inks are listed below and as you can see layer 1 was stamped one time, layers 2,3,and 4 were stamped twice to create a depth of color and layer five was stamped once.  The clear stamp allows you to see exactly where each stamp needs to be placed and using the MISTI (or any stamp positioner you may have) allows for the perfect placement each time you need to double stamp.

IO hybrid inks I used for layering here:
Layer 1 – Tan x1
Layer 2 – Tan x2
Layer 3 – Caramel x2
Layer 4 – Chocolate x2
Layer 5 – Black x1

Come check out how I made this country Christmas pinecone card with layered stamps.

Stamping and Masking

I started by stamping the first solid pinecone image on a piece of Eclipse tape and cut it out with my snips to use as a mask so I could stamp two pinecones with one overlapping the other. It worked perfectly. I used the stamping steps listed above to stamp the pinecone on the right, covered it with the mask and repeated the stamping steps to create the pinecone on the left.

Shading and Adding Texture

I heat dried both of my images to set the ink.  Next I added shading around the pinecones using the tan ink and a Color Box stylus and foam tip.  I like using this tool when adding color to larger areas.  I finished by adding a touch of texture around the pinecones using a stamp from the retired Stampin’ Up! Itty Bitty  set.

Completing the Country Christmas Pinecone Card with Layered Stamps

I wanted my frame to have the same color tone as the pinecones so I applied tan ink using the stylus and foam tip.  Next, I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the pinecone layer.  Next I cut out three sets of the Pinecone Pair and arranged and attached them to the corner of the pinecones.  I finished by creating a multi loop bow using retired Cherry Cobbler seam binding and attached it to the pine with glue dots.

I love how this card turned out.  If you love using pinecones for your holiday cards then you will definitely want to check out this wonderful set  so you can make your own Country Christmas Pinecone card with layered stamps.
