EPA’s Wheeler gets Iowa invite

Iowa’s congressional delegation has invited U.S. EPA acting administrator Andrew Wheeler to visit Iowa.

Senator Chuck Grassley says it would be good for Wheeler to meet with the farmers and rural communities that rely on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

“I’m optimistic that this Wheeler heading the EPA will work with us and execute the RFS in a more transparent manner than his predecessor,” Grassley says. “Farmers deserve nothing less than the truth and the law being followed.”

Grassley says he was encouraged by Wheeler’s stated commitment to uphold the RFS during his confirmation hearing last year.

In a letter to Wheeler, the Iowa delegation asked him to reconsider the proposed rule on blending volumes and to account for any waived RFS obligations so they do not reduce the overall level of renewable fuels blended.
