Global Dairy Trade index down again

The Global Dairy Trade index fell 1.7% Tuesday.  The average price was $3,222 per metric ton.  A total of 126 bidders bought more than 25-thousand metric tons of dairy products.

The skim milk powder and whole milk powder index went up while all other product prices fell.

Whole milk powder gained 1.5% to $2,973 a metric ton, or $1.34 per pound.  Skim milk powder went up 0.8% to $1,959 a metric ton or $0.88 per pound.

Butter was down 8.1% to $4,953 per pound or $2.24 per pound.  Cheddar cheese was down 3.3% to $3,596 per metric ton or $1.63 per pound.  The indexes for casein and anhydrous milk fat also fell in Tuesday’s trade.
