Japan accepts U.S. sheep and goat meat exports

U.S. sheep and goat exports will be accepted into Japan for the first time in in more than 14 years.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the agreement is the result of work by the USDA and Japanese authorities to make new terms for market access that follow international public and animal health standards.

Japan imported nearly $170 million in sheep and goat meat last year, mostly from Australia and New Zealand.
