Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! Oh, my word. What a week! Y’all know I’m a homebody, right? Well, I haven’t been home much this week and it was all completely unexpected.

It started when Brianna’s ferret died suddenly and completely unexpectedly on Saturday while she was visiting us. She was heartbroken. Devastated. I know a lot of people won’t get that, but he was more than just a ferret to her.

When she got married, she moved to a new town about 2 hours away. She knows no one. Although she visits often, she misses home and her friends and family here. Duke, the ferret, was her companion when Andrew was working. He was the first pet that she’s been completely responsible for living on her own. He was her baby.

Brian and I were just sick over it. You know how it is to see your kids so sad and there’s nothing you can do about it. So, we offered to buy her a new ferret. We knew we couldn’t replace her little buddy but we also knew that a new ferret would fill that void when she was back home and feeling lonely.

She said she didn’t want one at first. Then, she got back home and got to really missing Duke, so she started sending me links for ferrets on Craigslist. We found one that she was interested in. It was about 2 hours from us – in the opposite direction from her. So, we met her about halfway and she rode with us for the other two hours.

We got home at 12:30 in the morning. {sigh} With the ferret. Brianna and Andrew are having to have some work done on their apartment this week, so they thought it would be better for us to keep the ferret until the weekend. That may not have been a good decision. He’s so sweet and fun and he’s used to dogs. You should see him playing with Belle and Peanut.

I could get attached to this little guy.

Then, Tuesday, we got up and headed to Brianna’s house (with the ferret, but he came back home with us) to help her get some stuff done. We got home at 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday I had a long overdue lunch date planned with a friend. We chatted for nearly 4 hours! So, it was late when I got home on Wednesday, too.

Yesterday, I really wanted to hole up in the house all day and refuse to leave, but Megan had a job interview and needed a ride. And, we had dinner at my mom’s.

Somebody was very curious about the ferret’s pen.

Today may be the day that I become a hermit. One can hope. {grin} I know it won’t be tomorrow because that’s Brian’s birthday. I won’t tell all his business or anything, but I will say that it’s a milestone. And, it rhymes with nifty. {big Cheshire cat grin}

Y’all have a great weekend! I think I’m going to go play with a ferret before I have to give him back to his person.
