Guitar god Joe Bonamassa returns to shred again in Southwest Florida this February.

In an interview with The News-Press, Bonamassa said he likes to change things up onstage to keep his sound from growing stagnant. That includes adding background singers on recent tours.

“You have to push yourself,” he said. “I have 17 albums out. So sometimes I take a song from several albums ago and revamp it. That’s always a good trick.”

His 2016 album,“Blues of Desperation" hit No. 1 on the blues charts. It was a record-breaking 16th No. 1 blues albums in a row for Bonamassa.

“It’s not a testament to me,” he said about the album's success. “It’s a testament to my fans.

“It does mean a lot to me. … But we’re not sitting there with a bottle of Champagne. It’s really cool, but we’ve got to get back to the business at hand.”
