Deputies on Thursday arrested a person of interest in a homicide in Golden Gate Estates.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office began a death investigation about 6:20 a.m. Thursday at 4420 Fourth Avenue Southeast. The death later was ruled a homicide.

The Sheriff's Office has someone in custody but could not yet identify the person, according to spokeswoman Jamie Mosbach. The person who was killed was male but has not been identified.

Officials are waiting for the Collier Medical Examiner's Office report on the cause of death.

Officials executed a search warrant in the case, Mosbach said.

There is no danger to the public, Mosbach said. The investigation is active, and more information will be released as it becomes available, Mosbach said.
