Crews put out house fire in Golden Gate Estates
Fire crews on Thursday afternoon put out a house fire in Golden Gate Estates.
The fire was reported around 5 p.m. on the 2700 block of Randall Boulevard, just east of the Orangetree community.
When North Collier and Greater Naples Fire Rescue District crews arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames showing, Mazurkiewicz said.
Both directions of Randall Boulevard were closed for clean-up for a while, according to Heather Mazurkiewicz, spokeswoman for North Collier Fire Control & Rescue District.
Residents were inside the home when the fire started but evacuated safely. No one was hurt. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
According to Mazurkiewicz, the Red Cross will help the residents with temporary placement, but it is not yet known if the home is a total loss.
Also on Thursday afternoon, fire crews responded to back-to-back calls about smoke at a second home, a motor vehicle fire and a brush fire in the Mediterra community off Livingston Road between Immokalee and Bonita Beach roads.
"It was a crazy 20 minutes of bam-bam-bam," Mazurkiewicz said.
