My Experience with the Awesome Citibank 100,000 Mile Sign-Up Offer

by Adam

I was worried about approval for the amazing 100,000 Citi Executive / AAdvantage World EliteTM MasterCard, as I just received an AAdvantage Citi Business MasterCard in late November and used the expired two browser trick to finally get approved for a Citi AA AMEX and Visa in December 2012 – ‘Tis the Season…Two Citi AA Cards Finally Approved!!!. Those personal cards had the annual fees come up a few weeks ago, though I ended up keeping both via the reconsideration line offer of a $95 credit per card and special AAdvantage bonus spending offer. In total I had 3 Citi personal cards (2 AA and 1 Hilton) and 1 business card at the time of my application. I also had several recent pulls during my last app-o-rama. Now, Citi’s unofficial rules as stated over at Flyertalk are “1 Citi app or card of any kind per 8 days and 2 Citi cards or apps of any kind per 65 days. It is always advisable to wait 65 days from any type of Citi denial before applying for another Citi card.”

Anyway, I couldn’t pass up the 100,000 bonus and on 66 days exactly, I applied for the card. I received the dreaded application pending message noting a forthcoming response from Citi in 7-10 days. I used the (866) 606-2787 reconsideration number and received a nice rep who asked absolutely no questions at all besides having me confirm my personal details. Within two minutes I was approved with a pretty nice credit line despite my other cards with Citi. Several individuals are reporting positive results using the other reconsideration number as well – (800) 695-5171. If you don’t receive the response you want, hang up and call again!

The card is offering 100,000 AAdvantage miles after spending $10,000 in 3 months. You’ll also receive Admirals Club access for the primary cardholder and family or cardholder and two guests. Now, there is a non waived $450 fee, but you’ll receive $200 in statement credits on purchases within 12 months of account opening. Net you are paying $250 plus any Vanilla Reload fees (i’ll have several of these) for 100,000 AA miles and one year of Admirals Club (and US Airways  Club) access (and you don’t need to be flying AA to access the club). An excellent deal when you think about where 100K miles can take you…

Non elite members will also receive first checked bag free privileges.

I also had a pending message, called the following day and had to move some credit from other cards & was approved. FYI I have 4 personal AAdvantage cards & 1 biz. My last application was for the 50k biz card last October.

Nope, not the card, just the terms and conditions were sent via UPS. It take up to another 7 days for the card to arrive.

I am wondering if your AA miles are posted from the AA biz card. I got the card in Dec. and I have not received any miles from the card so far.

@Happy Feet – Same for me. Completed the spending right away but no miles yet.

I just got this offer in the mail today (and have a few times in the past). If the spend requirement were just $3K-5K, I would snap this offer up in a second, but at $10K I just can’t do that.

@Kris – So why not go for the 60k offer?

Nope, they rejected me. Too many CC applications? The last one was in September! Will try again tomorrow.
