Jonathan Kowalske and cousins DJ and Steve Kowalske own Component Brewing, which opens to the public on Friday.

Component Brewing, 2018 S. 1st St., will open its doors to the public Friday.

The brewery's small, two-barrel system promises a variety of beers, and will open with seven brews on tap. Six have been identified as Mosaic Theory IPA; Three Steeples India Pale Lager; Chase Ave. Chaser, a Pilsner; Coffee, No Coffee, an Imperial/Double Stout; Rose's Sour, a sour ale; and Buck's Bitter, an Extra Special/Strong Bitter. The seventh beer is a surprise.

The brewery is a family business. It's owned by Jonathan Kowalske and his cousins Steve and D.J. Kowalske. The new brewery is on the second floor of the Lincoln Warehouse in the taproom formerly operated by Eagle Park Brewing.

Jonathan promised early on that patrons can expect something different from Component Brewing once a month. The plan has been years in the making, they said. Jonathan would bring recipes and beer to family occasions, which influenced Steve and D.J.

Component Brewing offered a sneak peek to the Bay View community with a soft open last weekend. That move is in line with what the owners call a second meaning to the brewery name.

"We want to become a component of the community," Jonathan said in an earlier interview.

Component will be open 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and 3 to midnight Saturday, as part of the grand opening. Regular hours for the brewery will be 3 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
